Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a restoration that covers, or caps, a tooth entirely to restore it to a healthy shape and size. Its purpose is to strengthen or improve the appearance of a tooth. Porcelain crowns are strong, long lasting and they look great. Virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth, crowns restore function and aesthetically enhance your smile by fitting well over a tooth.

A crown is necessary when a tooth is in poor condition. This is the case when a tooth starts to crack, break or is decayed or diseased.

These condiĀtions could be due to:

  • Large fillings
  • The aging of teeth
  • The grinding of teeth
  • Improper bite
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • After a Root Canal Therapy
One of our main goals is to create crowns and veneers that look like natural teeth. To achieve this, a number of factors are considered such as the colour, occlusion, shape and length of both your natural teeth and the artificial crown. Any one of these facĀtors alone can significantly affect your appearance. A number of different materials can be used to produce a crown, and these will be discussed with you at the time of treatment planning.
